Massachusetts Emergency Worker Faces Domestic Violence Charges

There’s No Substitution For Experience

It can be shocking to hear that an emergency medical technician – someone who saves lives for a living – could be accused of assaulting and raping his fiancee. Those are the charges that a Boston man is facing after a Valentine’s Day dinner allegedly became verbal and then physical in nature.

The 34-year-old man, who became an EMT in 2011, is now on administrative leave. He is currently in jail on $50,000 bail. The alleged victim, however, now wants the charges dropped.

The charges stemmed from a Valentine’s Day date that led to an argument while the man and his fiancee were in a car. He kicked her out of the car, and she got a ride home from an unknown man.

According to the victim’s account, the man later came to her home, assaulted and raped her. The next morning, authorities found the woman’s home a mess. Tables were turned over and pieces of the woman’s hair were found on the floor. The man turned himself in the following Monday.

If the allegations are true, the man could face serious consequences. Rape and  assault  charges could be considered felonies, which can lead to many penalties as well as a damaged reputation.

The victim – who claims her fiance is a “nice man” – is no longer pursuing the charges, so should the man still face penalties for the accusations? The district attorney could still pursue the case and try for a  domestic violence conviction. If the man is convicted, the penalties could be severe, even if the victim in this case no longer wants to pursue prosecution.
