There’s No Substitution For Experience

By Brian D. Roman, Attorney at Law

Many 21-year-olds like to have fun and enjoy life. At that age, partying and alcohol use are popular pastimes. However, the combination of drinking and driving by one Massachusetts woman led to a crash that fortunately did not lead to a fatality. She is now facing  DUI  and child endangerment charges.

The 21-year-old woman was driving with her 3-year-old daughter in Milford when she ran a red light. She hit a van with four people inside, including three children. The impact caused the van to plummet into a nearby pond.

All managed to escape the icy pond and were taken to local hospitals. One girl is suffering from serious injuries. The woman and her child suffered minor injuries.

At only 21, the woman is still young and prone to mistakes. Just like many young adults her age, she was probably just having fun and had a momentary lapse of judgment. However, her actions caused her to seriously injure a young child. In addition, she was acting irresponsibly by putting her own child at risk by driving with her while under the influence. Because of this, she could face serious criminal charges.

A DUI charge can mar her criminal record for a long time. A conviction could land her in jail, especially because of the injuries involved. She will need a solid defense in order to reduce her penalties. Experienced criminal defense attorneys work diligently to protect the rights of their clients. In addition, an attorney can present a strong defense in hopes of getting the best possible outcome in the case.
